Chris Gayle was born on 21 September 1979 in Kingston, Jamaica. He was born in a lower middle-class family. He was the fifth of the six children in the family. Gayle attended “Excelsior High School” in Kingston. At the school age, Chris joined local cricket club “Lucas Cricket Club” in Kingston, where he learned and get most out of the cricket.
Gayle was caught the attention of the selectors while playing the club cricket. In 1998 he made the first-class debut for Jamaica. In 1999 he played debut ODI International match against India and in 2000 he played debut International Test match against Zimbabwe.
In 2002, Gayle scored three centuries in a series against India and He scored 1000 runs in the same year. In 2005 in a test match against South Africa Gayle made his first triple century (317runs), He was the first West Indies player to score Triple Century.
Gayle has an irregular heartbeat and breathing issues and He underwent heart surgery and successfully diagnosed from the heart defects.
In 2006 Champions Trophy Series, Chris made three centuries and scored 474 runs. West Indies was lost to Australia in the final match. Gayle was the highest scorer in the series also he took 8 wickets and he got player of the series award.
In 2007 T20 world cup Gayle set a new record by making the first century in the T20 international match. He was the first cricketer to score a ton in the T20.
In 2009 Gayle scored the fastest century (100 runs in 70 balls) in a Test match against Australia. He also has another record on his name for hitting six for the first ball in the test match.
In 2010 Gayle scored his second triple century in the Test against New Zealand. He scored 333 runs, which later became his jersey number.
In 2015 world cup Gayle made a double century against Zimbabwe. He was the first West Indies player to scored double century that too in a world cup series.
From 2009 onwards Gayle started appearing in T20 Leagues. He was the hot shot for the team franchise as they want Gayle badly and as he was sold for a high price in the auctions. He played Big Bash League, IPL(Indian Premier League), PSL(Pakistan Super League), BPL(Bangladesh Premier League), CPL(Carribean Premier League).
Gayle set numerous records in T20, such as fastest half-century (50 runs in 12 balls), fastest century (100 runs in 30 balls) and Scoring 37 runs in an over.
In IPL Gayle played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 2013 IPL Gayle set the record of highest individual score 175 runs in 66 balls against Pune Warriors team.
Gayle was the hard hitter batsmen, His strength and timing are put the ball out of the ground. While batting he looks quiet and still and he does exactly opposite when he was doing fielding. He behaves like naughty and cheers up the crowd with his dance on the ground.
From several years Gayle involved in a cold war with West Indies Cricket Board over the sponsorship issues. Over the disagreement with the board, he did not play cricket for his national team for the entire year of 2011.
In 2016 Gayle published his autobiography “Six Machine – I don’t like Cricket, I Love It”.
