Billy Ray Cyrus is an American singer, actor and song-writer. He is popular for his hit song “Achy Breaky Heart”. His original name is William Ray Cyrus. He appeared in comedy series Hannah Montana alongside his daughter Miley Cyrus.
Billy Ray Cyrus was born on 25 August 1961 in Flatwoods, Kentucky in USA. His father was a politician. His grandfather was a preacher in a church. His parents are divorced when Billy Ray was five years old.
He often went to the church with his grandfather. Billy Ray grew up by listening to the gospel music in the church. He gradually developed his interest towards music. He likes to play baseball and he joined Georgetown College on baseball scholarship.
During his college days he attended the famous singer Neil Diamond music concert and he realized he wanted to become musician, He left the college and started his work to make career in the music.
In 1980 Billy Ray Cyrus and his brother formed a rock band named Sly Dog. It was closed after a fire accident in 1984. While trying for recording contract opportunities Ray Cyrus suffered many hardships. He relocated to Los Angeles, California and moved back to Kentucky.
In 1990 Cyrus was discovered by Polygram/Mercury talent scouts when they came for opening of Reba McEntire music concert and he was signed the same year and started working on his first album.
In 1992 Cyrus released his first album “Some Gave All”. It was created lot of buzz and the single “Achy Breaky Heart” was topped on the first position on Billboard for 17 consecutive weeks. The album was sold out more-than 20million copies worldwide. After the success he never look back and he released albums for every two years.
In the early 2000 Cyrus stepped into the acting field. In 2001 Cyrus was starred in television show “Doc”, the show ran for three years.
From 2006, He starred in Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana” along with his daughter Miley Cyrus. In this show his daughter Miley Cyrus played the main role. In 2010 Cyrus also starred in Jackie Chan’s movie The Spy Next Door.

In 1993, Bill Ray Cyrus married Leticia Jean ‘Tish’ Finley (Tish Cyrus). Tish was an actress and producer.
The couple had three children together two daughters and a son – Miley Cyrus, Noah Cyrus, Braison Chance. Tish Cysrus had two children Brandi and Trace, before marrying Billy Ray Cyrus.
