Amy Satterthwaite is a New Zealand female cricketer and the current captain of New Zealand women’s cricket team. All-rounder Amy Ella Satterthwaite is the only female cricketer to score four consecutive centuries. Satterthwaite bats left-handed and bowls right-handed.
Amy Satterthwaite was born on 7th October 1986 in Christchurch city of New Zealand. She grew up watching cricket of her father Michael Satterthwaite. He was a former cricketer played for Canterbury. From childhood, she developed an interest in cricket.
At the age of 17, Amy Satterthwaite entered into domestic cricket. She played debut match for Canterbury Magicians. During the tour of England, she scored a century. She was picked for the New Zealand A team to play against India. After four years she became the captain for Canterbury Magicians.
In 2007, Amy Satterthwaite made her debut in International Cricket for New Zealand(White Ferns). On July 2007 she played her first T20 international match against Australia and in the same series she played her maiden ODI match against Australia.
Satterthwaite is not only good at batting, but her bowling is also very impressive. Satterthwaite is the first women cricketer who entered into the six-wicket haul. In 2007 match against England she took six wickets by giving just 17 runs.
Satterthwaite is the part of 2013 world cup team where she scored her maiden century against Australia.
Satterthwaite scored four consecutive hundreds by playing two series. She made 3 centuries against Pakistan and 1 against Australia.
In 2017 She won the inaugural ICC Women’s ODI Player of the Award.
In 2018 Satterthwaite took the captaincy before the 2018 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup tournament.
In Women’s Big Bash League Amy Satterthwaite is playing for Melbourne Renegades. Previously she played for Hobart Hurricanes.
